Winter wedding at Eaves Hall in Clitheroe

This year’s wedding season kicked off with the sweetest couple in Clitheroe at Eaves Hall. I had previously visited this Lancashire wedding venue with Charlotte and Jason for their engagement photos last month. It’s a beautiful location and wedding venue, but more importantly all the staff are so welcoming and attentive. The food is up there with the best and all the suppliers on the day were fantastic All these points helped make the day perfect for Charlotte and Jason.

Here are the highlights of their fab wedding day at Eaves Hall, along with a little Q&A. Enjoy!

Q: Which wedding venue did you choose and why did you choose it?

A: We chose Eaves Hall in Clitheroe after going to an open evening. We loved it as soon as we walked up to the Hall. After looking round we loved it even more. The layout of the different rooms and the lovely staircase. We could just see ourselves spending our special day there. We were really excited about the photo opportunities Eaves Hall could provide.

Q: Tell us about the proposal

A: We were on holiday on the Isle of Wight and had been to a antique shop and looked at some jewellery. Charlottes had seen a ring, so I went back to get it. Then on the Sunday which was Charlottes first Mother’s Day. We went for a morning walk to the beach. I told her I was going for a swim and to bring a towel down to the water. As she approached I got down on one knee and proposed.

Bridal preparation at Eaves Hall

First look moment and the wedding ceremony

Q: How did you feel as you walked down the aisle/ waited for your bride?

Jason - I felt very nervous and Excited, I couldn’t way to see Charlotte and Alanah come down the Isle, I felt all eyes were on me in the build up, it was good to have my best man there to help calm my nerves. I felt very emotional before the wedding ceremony and when I saw them both, I felt myself tearing up.

Charlotte - I felt very nervous and emotional. I had felt fine and all calm right up to the point of starting to walk in. It was so emotional seeing everyone and seeing Jason get emotional.

Q: Was there moment/part of the day that really sticks out or was the most memorable?

Jason - Seeing Charlotte coming down to isle, seeing the our table center pieces come together as we had made them ourselves.

Q: What was the most important investments for you and why?

A: A great wedding photographer, to capture the most important moments and recall those special moments on the day. They have to be someone you feel comfortable with and who gets what you want to capture through the day. Also a great venue that is easy to communicate on what you are wanting, on hand throughout the day and in the build up. We didn’t want to feel like we were just another wedding to our suppliers.

Q: Often the aspect that makes a wedding original to the couple is the detail – tell us about the details of the day.

A: For us the little touches that we could make personal were really important and a great way to save money. All our table center pieces were made or put together by ourselves. We really wanted things that meant something to us. We made our seating chart and based it round a movie theme which is something that we both love and have similar favourite films. It was important that the children felt involved and had something to keep them busy so we made bags up with activities and games that would give them something to do.

Q: And what stood out for you?

Charlotte- Watching everyone get ready and get excited. Seeing Jason at the end of the aisle waiting and just being with him in private after the ceremony. It was lovely to just have that time after the excitement.

Q: Any suppliers that deserve a special mention

A: Milly’s Bakes- she did our amazing cake and cupcakes. They all tasted amazing.

Flower Gallery Silsden- so many compliments on our beautiful flowers and they did such a beautiful job making a small leafy garland look amazing.

Amies Alterations- made my dress fit perfectly at short notice!

Beauty in bloom, at beehive in Silsden- Charlotte and Lauren really went above and beyond, they did more than hair and make up, they made sure I had everything I needed and gave advice and helped get me in my dress.

Jenson and samuels Skipton- Jason and the groomsmen got their suits there and they were so helpful and made sure they had everything they needed and all looked good.

Q: What song did you choose for your first dance, and why?

Lady GaGa - is that alright? We both loved a star is born and the it was the song used when they got married. The words were fitting.

Do you have any advice for couples in the planning stages?

A: It’s just one day, remember to enjoy it and take time through out the day to let it all sink in and be together just the two of you. We provided menu cards to remind people what they were having for their wedding breakfast, because people will forget their choices of meal. Stick to your budget, your day will be great without spending more than you can.
