Getting Married Abroad - Dominic and Alison

If you follow my blog or Facebook page, you will already know I had my first destination wedding in May. I had a working holiday in Rome. I spent my time travelling along with the crowds to look up at the imposing buildings and religious status that tower down on passers-by below. I marvelled at the ancient ruins while street sellers tried pushing selfie sticks in my hand. While I enjoyed parts of the city, I'm not sure it compares to Dom and Ali's wedding day.

Here are my favourite bits of Dominic and Alison's Rome wedding (warning it's quite a long one)

The days prior to the wedding wasn't exactly what you'd expect for spring weather in Italy. I crossed my fingers for no rain as I draw back the curtain in the morning. Phew! I was greeted with clear blue skies. I made my way to Aurelia Vatican Apartments for bridal preparation. The girls were sipping on prosecco as Ali's Bridesmaid, Jess made a start on styling their hair and make-up.

Dom was also at the apartments, so I was able to catch the boys before they left for the church (and beers)

The nerves began to creep in as the Ali put on her dress

Ali had a few moments alone in the room before wowing us all in her beautiful Pronovias dress

I always love the 1st look moment with a bride's father. It's such a precious moment, and this one was no different.

Robyn and Jessica decided the bride needed something blue, so once we reached Trastevere piazza, they bought a cute blue ankle bracelet for Ali. Nawww!

The Basilica di Santa Maria is one of the oldest churches in Rome. The interior and grandness of the church is quite breathtaking.

The reception was held at Ristorante Romolo, a traditional Roman restaurant. The courtyard was the picturesque setting for the celebrations.

When Dom and Ali sent out their invites, the guests were asked to choose a song they'd like to hear at the reception. They tied this in with the wedding favours putting together a sound track to their day. I love this thoughtful idea.

The speeches had everyone in stitches. There was also some tears when Ali said a few words.

The upper courtyard was where all the dancing took place, and there was LOTS of dancing. Dom and Ali kicked it off with their 1st dance as newly-weds. Just look at that happiness oozing out of them.

And the celebrations continued into the night.... well when in Rome!

What an amazing day. Thanks so much Dom and Ali for letting me be part of it all  :D
