The Best of 2020 - Yorkshire weddings and Family Photography

This won’t be a blog about how hard 2020 was or any profound summary of how we have all grown because of our hardships. While this may be true, I am no writer and I’m sure other bloggers can put them thoughts into words much better than me.

At the end of each year I blog a round up of my favourite wedding photography and family photos taken throughout the year. This year looks a little different due to weddings coming to an abrupt stop. Like so many people I’ve had to adapt and look for alternative work. I can’t wait to get back to photographing beautiful Yorkshire weddings and happy families again.

So what did I photograph?

Doorstep Portraits - People in Lockdown Doorstep Portraits was such a great way to meet locals and do something positive for the community. It was so nice to actually talk to real people during my daily walks. They really helped me through the first couple of lockdown months. I wanted a document something positive during the pandemic. You can see all my doorstep portraits here. Doorstep Portraits are still available by the way, so if you missed out and want a doorstep portrait, do let me know.

Styled Photo Shoots- I have collaborated and styled three styled shoots during 2020. Usually I manage one a year. So much planning and organising goes in to these shoots (I had a lot of time of my hands.) Our gorgeous models were all amazing and this work has actually been published, which I am very proud of. I am currently play with ideas for a new styled shoot, so if you wish to collaborate, get in touch

Weddings - I was so happy to photograph two weddings in December at the Coniston Hotel in Skipton and the Priest House at Barden Tower.. Both should have been big weddings, that turned into very small, intimate weddings. I am so grateful to those two couples that persisted despite all the obstacles and kept me as their photographer. After so long of being absent from weddings, it really did mean a lot to be able to do what I love and be part of their day. I am currently taking booking for 2022/2023 and there are still spaces this year, so please spread the word if you know anyone getting married.

Lifestyle Photo Shoots - Has family time ever been more important? I was lucky enough to photographed happy memories for some lovely families throughout 2020. I love family photo shoots and these times made life feel a little more normal for those few hours. Following the guidance, I am allowed to leave home to work, so If you would like photos with your loved ones, or want something to look forward to, get in touch
