the priests house barden tower winter wedding - adam and maddy

The Priest House at Barden Tower Wedding Photography

Nestled in the Yorkshire Dales and in the shadows of the grand ruin which once was Braden tower, sits the Priests House and Old Chapel. This historic ruin is a site to behold and the setting alone makes it very desirable for any country wedding. This is Skipton wedding venue is where Adam and Maddy's intimate wedding took place. Their original plan wasn’t for a small wedding not a winter wedding, but yes, you guessed it, the pandemic forced them into these plans. I started the morning as usually with bridal preparation. But instead of capturing lovely documentary wedding photos until the wedding party as planned, they unfortunately had to abandoned the wedding reception all together. You may remember wedding reception were banned at this point.

The girls had a lot of fun on the wedding morning and even just getting into the dress had them in giggles. It was a drizzly drive past Bolton Abbey and towards Barden, but this added to the atmospheric scene at The Priests House at Barden Tower.  Adam and Maddy’s wedding ceremony took place with only a handful of guests. It was an extremely intimate service as they said their vows in front of the impressive window throwing winter light into the room. I have to say the Old Chapel is very well suited to a small intimate wedding.

As these two exited the Priests House, I saw relief like I’d never seen in any other couple. They finally tied the knot and they couldn’t have been happier. We got some lovely family group photos and a few couple portraits after the wedding ceremony. It would be rude not to at such a stunning location as Barden Tower with the Yorkshire Dales surrounding us. I really wish I could have spent longer with them to capture the day I know they planned for. If you’re already married of been a happy wedding guest, you’ll know how much the day flies by normally, so it felt extra quick. But, you know what, if anyone made the most out of a shortened wedding day, it was these guys!

What Maddy and Adam said about their wedding photos:

Gemma is absolutely amazing at what she does! We found her through my husband’s sister who used Gemma for her own wedding. Originally supposed to be in December 2019, Gemma was so responsive, helpful and very understanding whenever we messaged her with any wedding updates (rescheduled twice during c19).
And of course during the actual day she captured everything we asked for and more including my runaway bride dream shoot even if it didn’t pan out quite right in the end (my dress was not made for that) After the wedding, she was so responsive and quick if we had any questions on the photo album timescale/pricing etc. We can’t wait to book her in again for a family photo shoot when we get our new doggo!

Oh and I definitely can’t wait for a family shoot with these two! They were so much fun on their engagement photo shoot and if they bring a dog, I’ll be in my element. (You can see their engagement photos in York here)

Here’s my highlights for Adam and Maddy’s wedding day at the Priests House and Old Chapel at Barden.

If you are getting married at The Priests House and Old Chapel or looking for a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I’d love to hear from you. I’m Yorkshire wedding photographer based a short drive away at Skipton and love shooting at Barden Tower.
