Falcon Manor Wedding Photography - Victoria and Bradley

Wedding Photography at the Falcon Manor in North Yorkshire

The Falcon Manor is an exclusive wedding venue on the outskirts of Settle in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. It is one of James Places sought after venues and I absolutely love photographing at this Yorkshire Dales wedding venue. I was delighted when Victoria and Bradley booked me as their wedding photographer and they told me their venue was the Falcon Manor. It is a venue with wonderful surroundings making for perfect backdrops. It has the options of outdoor ceremonies on the manicured lawn or the light and airy ceremony room. If it happens to be raining, the staff are fantastic and allow for indoor confetti shots and there’s always the impressive staircase for bride and groom portraits.

I arrived to Victoria and her bridesmaids already looking stunning with a super early start. Everyone was pretty relaxed with plenty of time before the ceremony. There was a bottle of fizz and some wedding tunes on the go before Victoria stepped into her Ava Rose Wedding dress. She looked absolutely stunning which made her mum and her bridesmaids tear up for the first look moment. It was soon time for the ceremony and it was pretty evident that once Bradley had stopped busying himself welcoming guests, the nerves appeared.

Tell us about the proposal

Bradley proposed when he took me away for a surprise weekend in Cheltenham and Wales for my birthday.

What venue did you choose and why did you choose it?

We chose Falcon Manor in Settle because we liked the location, and we wanted an exclusive venue to provide privacy for us and our guests to enjoy the wedding day. We also liked the fact we could stay for two nights to extend the celebrations.

How did you feel as you walked down the aisle/ waited for your bride?

Bradley – I was extremely emotional because I had not seen Victoria since the evening before. I selected to wait until the bridesmaids were seated before turning around. When I turned around, I was extremely honoured and proud to see my beautiful bride walking towards me.

Victoria – I was nervous before walking down the aisle and excited to see Bradley when I was walking down the aisle, I was waiting for him to turn around, and once he turned around to face me my nerves were alleviated, and I could not stop smiling at him and I also became very emotional.

Was there moment/part of the day that really sticks out or was the most memorable?

Bradley – When the barn owl delivered the rings and seeing all my guests’ expressions.

Victoria – After me and Bradley were announced as Mr and Mrs Hewitt and we walked back down the aisle together as husband and wife.

Often the aspect that makes a wedding original to the couple is the detail – tell us about the details of the day.

In the morning I enjoyed getting ready in the bridal suites with my mum and bridesmaids. Bradley could spend the morning with his family and groomsmen. We also hired a violinist to play as guests were arriving to set the atmosphere and during the ceremony. We arranged a bird of prey display as a surprise for our guests to enjoy and provide something a bit different. We had a barn owl deliver the rings for the ceremony.

Bradley’s mum made our wedding cake which we were really grateful for, we also wanted to ensure everyone could enjoy the cake and provided boxes so the guests could take a piece home with them.

Do you have any advice for couples in the planning stages?

Try not to stress about all the minor details during planning, everything comes together, and your wedding day will be perfect. Enjoy every minute and make sure you take time to soak it up. Trust your wedding suppliers and take on board any of their suggestions and expertise.

What was the most important investments for you and why?

We wanted a photographer that suited our personalities, to capture all the important parts of our day and provide expertise to ensure we had lots of photographs to remember our special day.

We also wanted a venue which would provide a small and friendly atmosphere to ensure our guests felt welcomed and part of the day. The wedding breakfast was important to us, and Falcon Manor had options for the meal which we thought was a nice touch.

What song did you choose for your first dance, and why?

We chose One Life, by James Bay. We thought the lyrics suited a first dance and that we wanted a song that we had not heard at weddings we had attended.

We would like to thank Gemma for providing guidance, expertise and ensuring the photographs that were important to us were captured throughout the day. I would highly recommend Gemma as a wedding photographer.
