Utopia at Broughton Sanctuary Wedding Photos

A little about Gabby and Luke’s wedding day.

Being a Wedding photographer based in Skipton, Utopia is always a pleasant wedding venue to photograph at. The Broughton Hall Estate offers beautiful views of the country side of North Yorkshire and the rural estate has vast options for wedding photography. Utopia is an amazing glass building, so it’s very light and airy and gives an impression that you are outdoors in the beautiful surroundings. Utopia really does make the perfect County wedding venue.

St Andrew’s Kildwick church is in the picturesque village of Kildwick/ Farnhill. Do be aware that the photography rules are very strict here. I was delighted on this occasion to be able to photograph Gabby and Luke’s ceremony to tell their full story.

The speeches were fantastic, with Gabby’s dad doing ‘this is your life’ and involving wedding guests, while Luke’s speech brought all the emotions. The bestman brought the light-hearted vibes back with his houmous speech. Soon it was time for the evening guests to arrive before the wedding reception got into full swing.

Check out some of the highlights with a little Q&A from Gabby and Luke at their Skipton wedding at Utopia at Broughton sanctuary.

Eden at Broughton Sanctuary

Eden is a stunning five star luxury house on the Broughton Hall Estate. It offers rural views from it’s stylish, yet slightly quirky house. It can be hired for the wedding stay and weddings are even held at Eden.

Gabby and Luke both got ready at Eden. They made sure they stayed on separate levels of the house the morning of the wedding so they didn’t see each other. I met Gabby and her bridesmaid to document their morning while my trusted wing lady, Kirsten met Luke and the boys.

Which wedding venue/s did you choose and why did you choose it?

We chose St. Andrews Church, Kildwick because it’s our local parish, so wouldn’t have chosen any other church. We wanted a typical Yorkshire, traditional English wedding. Utopia at Broughton has a setting that is perfect for this. And with living locally we can go back and re-visit our wedding venue.

How did you feel as you walked down the aisle and waited for your bride?

Gabby - I just felt really really excited and couldn’t wait for the day to unfold.

Luke - I felt a mix of excitement and nerves.

What was the most important investments for you and why?

Our wedding Photographer, Gemma Photographer – as the photos last a lifetime.

Also planning the wedding ceremony and Order of Service because this is the most important part of the day and what a wedding is all about.

What advice would you give couples currently planning their wedding?

Enjoy planning every part. It can feel like a big ‘to-do’ list at times, but once the wedding is over you will miss all the excitement and build-up that comes with the planning. Also keep a spreadsheet of all suppliers and when they require payment etc so you can keep on top of what you have organised and what you still need to do.

Tell us about the dress

I knew I always liked sleeves and lace and always wanted a veil that had a substantial train, like royalty haha! My dress is from Ava Rose.

Are there any of your wedding suppliers that deserve a special mention?

Cakes by Heidi – the cake not only tasted delicious and a lot of our guests commented on this, but the design, colours and the way it looked was absolutely perfect and just how we wanted.

Also are florist, Blush Florists in Cross Hills. The flowers were gorgeous, really lovely colours and smelt amazing.

What song did you choose for your first dance?

Ronan Keating – When you say nothing at all. We’ve always loved this song and the words.

What details of the day made your wedding original to you?

All of the music was chosen with meaning. From the choice of music in the Church, to music played at the venue and our first dance.
