A Small Summer Celebration at Holdsworth House
As a Holdsworth House wedding photographer, I always love returning to this historic Yorkshire venue. Built in 1633, the Jacobean manor is full of character, from its stone mullioned windows and period architecture to its beautiful gardens, making it the perfect setting for intimate weddings like Veronica and Andy’s summer celebration. See the highlights from their intimate wedding at Holdsworth House.
Their summer wedding brought all the unpredictability of the British weather, with sunshine one moment and rain showers the next. Originally, Veronica and Andy had planned to hold their ceremony in the courtyard, but with the weather remaining unsettled, they made the decision to move indoors to the room overlooking the gardens beside the bar.
Although it wasn't quite the outdoor ceremony they had envisioned, it created a warm and relaxed atmosphere as they exchanged their vows surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
Like many summer weddings this year, we spent much of the day keeping one eye on the sky. Whenever the rain eased, we headed outside to make the most of the beautiful grounds for photographs before retreating indoors when the next shower arrived. Thankfully, the gardens at Holdsworth House provided plenty of lovely spots for portraits between the bursts of rain
Family was at the heart of everything. Veronica's mum had travelled from Spain and only arrived the day before the wedding, making her presence even more special. Their little girl was a huge part of the celebrations too, and their beloved dog joined them for the day, bringing plenty of smiles and making the occasion feel even more personal.
One of my favourite things about the day was seeing the thought and care Veronica had put into every detail. She had sourced all of the table decorations herself and carefully created each guest's name place setting by hand. There were thoughtful gifts for loved ones and personal touches throughout the day, making the celebration feel completely unique to them.
I photographed their initiate wedding from the ceremony through to the wedding breakfast, capturing the moments that mattered most. After family photographs and portraits around the grounds, guests enjoyed the wedding breakfast
What I'll remember most about Veronica and Andy, though, is how genuinely lovely they were. They were one of the sweetest and most grateful couples I've had the pleasure of photographing, and it was clear throughout the day how much they appreciated having their favourite people together to celebrate with them.
Their wedding was proof that you don't need a huge guest list or an elaborate schedule to create a memorable day. With their closest family and friends by their side, thoughtful personal details throughout, and plenty of love and laughter despite the changing weather, Veronica and Andy's intimate Holdsworth House wedding was a joy to be part of.
