Weetwood Hall Leeds wedding photography

Wedding photography Weetwood Hall Estate
Weetwood Hall Estate, located near the vibrant city of Leeds, is the ideal venue for couples looking to celebrate traditional or contemporary weddings. With an excellent selection of three beautifully appointed rooms available to accommodate civil ceremonies, as well as the picturesque option of holding a blessing in their charming courtyard or garden, this estate truly offers something for everyone. Starry and James made a wonderful choice in selecting the stunning grade II listed Jacobean room within the historic Manor House for their wedding ceremony. I think they had a perfect balance of tradition and contemporary, bring in unique aspect that were important to them.
Here are the highlights to James & Starry’s lovely spring wedding at Weetwood Hall Estate.

The wedding dress
Starry: I went dress shopping with my to be mother-in-law, sister-in law and one of her bridesmaids. I already had dreamt about my dream wedding dress, so I picked and tried on a few styles that I liked, with the help of the lovely staff in Ava Rose Hamilton, I found THE dress. It was a team effort!
The suit
James: We wanted a classic, timeless style suit. I’m is usually a fan of darker rather than lighter coloured suits. We did some shopping around the high street stores and found the perfect one in Moss Bros. I then assembled my best man and groomsmen for a try-on session in store a couple of weeks later.

The Wedding Ceremony at Weetwood Hall
James: I felt a strong sense of nervous excitement. The room was full of excited guests. I tried to pass time and expel nerves by speaking to some, but really, I couldn’t wait to see Starry. Thoughts were going from everything about the wedding day (and hoping everything would be as we wanted!) to excitement for the life that we will be leading together. When Starry walked in, I was blown away with the way she looked; it was the perfect dress for his perfect bride.

The tradition
We really want to blend our two cultures’ traditions into the wedding, so we held a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony after the official vows and exchange of rings. It was really important to say our greatest gratitude to our parents for bringing us up, and officially introducing the son/daughter to the family.

Weetwood Hall wedding venue
James: We Chose Weetwood Hall Estate in Leeds for our wedding. We really liked the feel of the venue, the nice open spaces and the blend of beautiful old and newer rooms. It was also convenient for most of our wedding guests to get to, close by to the city. We were expecting at least some guests on Starry’s side to come from overseas, so having a large on-site hotel was a big bonus. We also lived very happily in Leeds during our studies there and grew to love the city and our life there; it’s definitely fair to say that we have a very special connection with Leeds in which we met and fell in love. It turned out to be a great choice, we were over the moon with how helpful and thoughtful the wedding team and staff are, without them, our wedding couldn’t be as perfect as it was.

Yorkshire wedding photographer
Starry: We really liked Gemma’s photo albums, especially the wedding photos. The pre-wedding shot was really fun, she made our day a lot easier with her speciality, skills and ability to subtly blend in seamlessly. We were very happy and certain she was the perfect photographer for wedding.
The wedding vision
James: We like sage green colours, so went with this colour for our interiors. Hera and Darren from Thompson Towers did an amazing job of capturing our vision so perfectly. During the wedding breakfast we shared some traditional Chinese spirit with our guests by going around the tables and speaking with them all. We added some light hearted fun interactivity after the wedding breakfast by playing a Mr and Mrs Shoes Game – all the guests and us had great fun with this.
