Should you book an engagement photoshoot?
There are many reasons why you should book an engagement photo shoot. I believe they are so beneficial, that I offer a complimentary photoshoot with my full day wedding photography packages. But if you aren’t booking me as your wedding photographer, you can still book an engagement session with me. Here’s the reason why I firmly believe you should book an engagement photoshoot.
Get to know your wedding photographer
It is so important for me to get to know you both, so I can tailor my approach to best fit who you are on your wedding day. It sounds silly, but you may be very uncomfortable hugging or holding hands. Everyone is different, so knowing if you' need more guidance or if you’re happy with the completely natural approach is best sussed out on a pre-wedding photoshoot.
Your wedding plans
An engagement photo session is when the chat flows about your wedding, what you’re excited about, what you’re nervous about. Maybe things you’re struggling with. I like to help in any way I can. You might be finding it difficult searching for the perfect wedding supplier that fit your day. I have lots of recommended suppliers. Or perhaps I can suggest an idea so you can still have that first dance you are so nervous about.
Feeling comfortable having your photo taken
Feeling comfortable with me and in front of the camera is the biggest benefit to having an engagement photoshoot. It’s an odd concept to have photos taken by a stranger. I like to meet and become less of a stranger in order for you to feel comfortable with me and normalise having your photos taken. You will realise it’s not actually scary and you look great in photos too. Honestly when you get the photos back, it really will make you feel more confident for your wedding day.
Practice run before the wedding
Often I suggest we have the photoshoot at your wedding venue. Some Yorkshire wedding venues are an absolute photographer’s dream and there’s so many photo opportunities. It’s really great to suss your favourite spots out and also if we don’t get the time (or the weather) on your wedding day, you have these lovely engagement photos.
