York Minster Refectory Wedding Photography

Weddings York Minster Refectory

York Minster Refectory beautifully combines historic charm with some modern style. With an exceptional view of the iconic York Minster just metres away, this wedding venue offers one of the most central and picturesque locations for a York city wedding. With a wedding licence, the refectory is fully equipped to host both wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions, making it a versatile choice for couples. The King’s Suite is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 50 seated guests, while the Lounge offers a more intimate space for 20 seated guests. Laura and Rob’s wedding ceremony took place in the stunning King’s Suite, with the Lounge serving as a relaxed area for guests to unwind while the room was prepared for the wedding reception. Given the exceptionally warm weather on the day, many guests enjoyed mingling outside, taking in the breathtaking views of the York Minster and the surrounding historic cityscape.

Here’s a looks at the highlights of Rob and Laura’s York Wedding. I joined the girls at the Hilton in York City centre for bridal preparation.

Rob and Laura got ready at the Hilton before making their way through the city to York Refectory.

How Rob Proposed

Laura: We met through friends at work over 20 years ago and became a couple around 19 years ago.. 2 children and 18 years later, Rob proposed on my birthday.

Choosing York Minster Refectory as our wedding venue?

Laura: We initially wanted a small wedding at York Register Office, followed by a meal in York somewhere, but when we  viewed the Minster Refectory, we loved the building and the setting so much that our plans changed. We still had a small wedding but in a beautiful setting.

The page boy and flower girl did they prefect job and took excellent care of the rings too.

Choosing your wedding photographer

Laura: We were so thrilled when Gemma said she was available to photograph our wedding. We first met around 2 and a half years ago at my sister's wedding. Gemma is so lovely and puts everyone at ease. We are not disappointed with the  photos!

Who could resist a quick walk around the city to some iconic landmark. The beauty of getting married at the York Refectory is, it only take a few minutes to reach the York Minister. Or it can be the backdrop to family formal photos.

Are there any suppliers you’d like to give a shout out to?
