You could pick the place you went on your first date, this really personalise the photoshoot. How about the location of your proposal? You could even recreate that moment the question got popped. Think about somewhere you love to visit or spend time. This could be your favourite coffee shop/ cocktail bar or somewhere you walk the dog.

There’s so many incredible places in Yorkshire, you are kind of spoilt for choice. With so much planning to do, thinking of a location for your engagement photos may be a bit over whelming. Don’t worry, as a Yorkshire wedding and family photographer, I know so many great place. So let’s narrow it down. Here are my top 5 locations for engagement photos near me

Best places in Yorkshire for an engagement photoshoot

Malham Cover in the Yorkshire Dales

If you’ve visited Malham Cove, I think you’ll agree it’s jaw dropping and an epic place in the Yorkshire Dales for an engagement photoshoot. With magnificent sights of the limestone cove and spectacular views of the Yorkshire Dales from the top, it’s an absolute winner for photography. Malham Cove is perfect for outdoorsy couples that love the Yorkshire Dales and a bit of a hike (you’ll get your 10,000 steps in whilst on this photoshoot) there’s also Janet’s Foss waterfall and Gordale Scar nearby. (be aware picking somewhere like Janet’s Foss, will be likely busy)

Goitstock Waterfall and Wood in Cullingworth, West Yorkshire

This little spot in Cullingworth is a hidden gem in West Yorkshire. Goitstock waterfall is known to the locals of Cullingworth and Harden, but it’s West Yorkshire best kept secret waterfall. It makes for real magical engagement photography and it’s a pretty romantic spot. The path is full of tree roots and is a bit of a walk, so this is for couples that don’t mind a walk to the location.

Haworth Bronte Village

For an urban engagement location, I have to recommend Haworth. Because of the Bronte sister’s it is a busy tourist attraction. The cobbled streets and independent range of shops, like the Cabinet of Curiosities, really makes you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. If you like historic villages with beautiful views over the valley, Haworth is a great idea for your photoshoot.

Cow and Calf Ilkley Moor

Ilkley Moor is a popular spot for walkers and visitors to Ilkley. It provides great views over the town and has very interesting rock formation. I find it great for photoshoot as it provides lots of different elements to the photography without walking too far. The famous cow and calf rocks always make for great photos due to the interest formation and landscape. I recommend this to couples who like a gentler walk and variety.

Your Yorkshire Wedding Venue

I love to photograph an engagement shoot at your chosen wedding venue. It’s a great time to chat all things wedding with you and discuss photo opportunities. This is the perfect time to make full use of your wedding venue and take advantage of all the amazing photo locations. We won’t have as much time on your wedding day so it’s lovely to grab some professional engagement photos pre-wedding. You will need to check in with your wedding venue and arrange your engagement photoshoot. I recommend a weekday for this. This is an example of Swinton Castle in Ripon, North Yorkshire.
